Terms of Use

Last updated: March 2026

These terms govern your use of Mémoire (wakevenues.co.uk) and all associated sites operated by Mémoire. By using Mémoire, you agree to these terms. If you are a venue owner, additional Venue Partner Terms apply.

About the service

Mémoire is an online directory and booking platform that connects families searching for funeral wake venues with venues across the United Kingdom. Mémoire acts as an intermediary — we are not a party to any contract between a family and a venue, and we are not responsible for the services provided by venues listed on the platform.

Using Mémoire as a family

Searching for venues and sending enquiries is free. When you send an enquiry, you are contacting the venue directly. Mémoire passes your message to the venue and sends you a confirmation, but the booking relationship is between you and the venue.

Where you make a payment through Mémoire, the payment is processed securely by Stripe. The venue is responsible for delivering the service you have booked. If you have a dispute with a venue, please contact us at hello@wakevenues.co.uk and we will do our best to help.

Accuracy of venue information

Venues are responsible for the accuracy of their listings. Mémoire reviews listings before they go live but cannot guarantee that all information is current. We recommend confirming specific details — such as pricing, capacity and availability — directly with the venue before making any decisions.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Submit false or misleading enquiries or venue listings
  • Use Mémoire for any purpose other than finding or listing wake venues
  • Attempt to circumvent the platform to avoid commission on bookings originated through Mémoire
  • Scrape, copy or republish venue listings or platform content without permission
  • Use the platform if you are under 18 years of age

Reviews

Reviews on Mémoire are from verified families who have made a booking through the platform. Mémoire moderates reviews before publication. We reserve the right to decline to publish reviews that contain offensive content, false information, or that could be harmful.

Limitation of liability

Mémoire is provided "as is." To the fullest extent permitted by UK law, we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you have paid to Mémoire in connection with the relevant booking.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded under UK law.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. Venue owners will be notified by email of material changes. Continued use of Mémoire after changes constitutes acceptance.
